Thornberry, a mile off the Navan Road: bookings are being taken for 48 two-bedroom apartments

Bookings are being taken this weekend for Thornberry, a scheme of 48 apartments being built by Menolly a mile off the Navan Road (N3), near Clonee, in Dublin 15. The scheme is a few minutes' drive from Blanchardstown shopping centre and the M50 interchange and some nine miles from Dublin city.

Prices range from £109,500 to £111,995 for the two-bedroom apartments with a floor area of 780 sq ft, according to selling agent Ross McParland.

Each apartment is accessed directly from its own ground level front door. Although none of the apartments is ready as yet, Ross McParland expects the first buyers to move in around December. Work is expected to be completed by the end of January at the latest.

The garden-level end-of-block apartments are among the most attractive. They are accessed via a side porch, leading directly into a spacious and bright livingroom, which is connected via double doors to an equally bright kitchen, which acts as a diningroom. The kitchens have a good range of fitted units and wall tiling in the kitchen and bathroom comes as standard. There is natural gas central heating and apartments are piped for a gas cooker. Other features include a solid mahogany hall door, Regency style panelled doors with brass fittings and a (non-power) shower in the bathroom. A telephone intercom connects to remote control electronic security gates. Each apartment has a smoke alarm and is wired for a burglar alarm. There are telephone connections and TV points in the livingroom and in one of the bedrooms. Mid-block ground level apartments don't have a porch and so are somewhat less bright inside. The fronts of 18 of the apartments face south. One of the medium-sized double bedrooms in each apartment has a built-in wardrobe, while the second bedroom has a walk-in wardrobe.

The first floor apartments have a small balcony off both the livingroom and the kitchen/dining area. Ground level apartments have patio doors from the kitchen to the communal gardens.

There are seven two-storey blocks, four containing six apartments, and three larger blocks with eight apartments each. There are 72 free car-parking spaces. The apartments qualify for the £3,000 first-time buyers' grant and are covered by the HomeBond 10-year guarantee scheme. The annual service charge will be £500.
