Mystery still surrounds the identity of the new owner, or owners, of Hollybrook, the large detached house on Torquay Road in Foxrock that sold for £8.3 million. At the time, the price was considered to be very much on the high side for the three-acre site and pundits wondered how enough apartments could be crammed in to make it pay. Now it seems that 44 is the magic number. A planning application has just been lodged by Milbrink Ltd to build the luxury apartments, demolishing the house in the process. That works out at a site cost of about £188,000 per site, before stamp duty and other costs are taken into account. The development is likely to get underway before Noel Dempsey introduces his affordable housing clause.
