According to the saying, you're never too old to start something new, but equally it can be said that you're never too young either. That's why the Irish Antique Dealers Association (IADA) and MyAntiques.ie– owned by The Irish Times – is running a competition to find the collector of the future.
We are looking for Ireland’s best young collector, and the winner will be awarded €1,000 and the chance to showcase their collection at the annual IADA Fair in the RDS between October 5th and 7th.
The collection can be comprised of anything at all (coins, teddy bears, Irish silver, dolls, stamps, High School Musical trump cards) and it will be judged by an expert panel comprising IADA president, George Stacpoole, renowned antique dealer Niall Mullen and The Irish Times property editor, Madeleine Lyons.
We are looking for images of 10 pieces in total and a single written submission about the collection in no more than 250 words (explaining where the items have come from, how the collection came about, and how long you have been collecting).
Entries should be submitted to competitions@myantiques.ie, message to include name, age, address and contact number. Photos should be attached separately. Entrants must be under 18 to be eligible. Closing date: Monday, September 17th, 2012
