Among the significant developments coming on stream in Limerick are the Ashbourne Business Park on the Dock Road, which will have 100,000 sq ft of offices and showrooms, the 80,000 sq ft Caherdavin District Centre retail development, and a 16-storey, four-star Millenium Hotel on Steamboat Quay, which is set to become a significant Limerick landmark. Another hotel will be sited on Condell Road.

The 100,000 sq ft Castletroy Shopping Centre, with Superquinn as the anchor tenant, is currently in the planning appeals process, as is the Ennis Road Retail Park.

The multi-storey car-park, which is the first stage of Aidan Brooks' Howley's Quay development is complete, and stage two, comprising retail units and a pub-restaurant, will open in 2000. Construction is about to begin on the adjacent Spaights site owned by Roches Stores, which will have 54 residential units, car-parking and a 40,000 sq ft store.

Among other city centre developments is a plan by local business people to redevelop the former Roches Mills, at the top of William Street, for commercial and residential use.
