A major regional leisure facility with a 48-bedroom hotel, conference centre and two 18-hole golf courses is being planned for Roganstown House, a listed building near Swords in North County Dublin.
The development also includes the provision of 50 new homes, 20 of which will be used as a tourist village.
The planning application, for which an extension of time until December was recently sought, was lodged earlier this year with Fingal County Council.
The applicants, who are listed as Joseph and Denise McLoughlin, are seeking permission to knock the non-period extensions to the house as well as outbuildings, with the exception of the protected gate lodge.
In their stead will be a new facility of more than 15,000 sq m, described as "an integrated tourism and recreational complex" comprising the 48-bedroom hotel, conference centre, bar, diningroom, function room, and leisure centre.
The leisure centre is to include a squash court, swimming pool, gymnasium and golf changing rooms. The development includes the current golf course and provides for a new golf maintenance building and a second 18 hole golf course as well as a bowling green.
Modifications are to be made to the existing golf course and 240 car-parking spaces will be provided.
