The cream kitchen of 12 St Lawrence Road in Clontarf, Dublin 3 was designed by independent kitchen designer Brian Fitzpatrick of Space Planning (brian@bfitzdesign.com).
Kitchens can be tricky to get right and an independent designer can help draft a workable design so you make the right choices. Fitzpatrick says the trick is to strike a balance between practicality and appearance and incorporate the maximum workspace possible as well as making good use of internal fittings and lighting.
The cream In-frame fitted kitchen came from Tierney Kitchens (01 8417233). A similar sized fitted kitchen would cost around €27,500 including tan brown worktops and appliances.
A feature of the centre island is the AEG wine cooler (€2,000) also from Tierneys. The cooler replicates the temperature of a cellar and advanced ones have several temperature zones for red and white wine including a cooler zone to chill white wine.
A great idea for extra seating which doubles as storage are the window seats: interior designer Joe Kirby of Silver River Interiors (057 9329689)covered the seats in Ralph Lauren Ennis Plaid (€87.00 per m). The Roman Blinds are in Swaffer Waverley (€59.50 per m) and the sofas, in Old English leather and Shetland Wool, are all made to order through Silver River Interiors. The walla are painted in Colortrend Restorative.
IF YOU ARE going to do opulent, the main bedroom of this house is a good place to start. It has all the staples required to get the look: a chandelier, large gold mirror and luxurious fabrics.
Interior designer Joe Kirby of Tullamore, Co Offaly-based Silver River Interiors (057 9329689) used Osborne and Little Rostellan on the feature wall to give the room some drama without overpowering it. It costs €66 a roll. The rest of the room is painted in Colortrend Plymouth Beige.
The mink colour curtains in James Hare Silk, ( €44 per m) are trimmed with Sherwood fringe and tiebacks, made to order by SIlver River Interiors. The glass-base bedside lamps are €269 each and they and the gold mirror (€299) are from Clane, Co Kildare-based Bob Kates Home Collection (045 902299).
The Sheridan cream bedlinen and purple cushions (€42 each) also came from Bob Kates Home Collection while the chandelier was sourced in Birr shop Grannys Attic (057 9122815) and cost €1,850. The silk cushion with the fringe was €85 and made to order by Silver River Interiors.
