Irish Life and Canada Life have taken an equity stake in Navan Shopping Centre at a cost believed to be around £14 million. The complex has been extended and upgraded in recent years and has 150,000 sq ft of retail space and 1,000 car-parking spaces. There are 54 units in addition to the anchor tenants, Tesco, Dunnes Stores (drapery) and Penneys. Planning permission has been sought for an additional 20,000 sq ft of retail accommodation and 320 spaces in a multi-storey car-park.
The Navan centre has been owned since 1995 by businessmen Eamon Duignan and Cathal McCarthy. Tony Watters of Palmer McCormack advised the two institutions while Ann Hargaden of Lisney acted for the owners.
