Every year the Ideal Home Show recreates a house that reflects the mood of the moment, one that visitors to the event can walk through and see the latest interiors.
So what kind of house do you think they will recreate at the show this year as the recession continues and people are being careful with their money?
Why a Hamptons beach house of course. Although some would argue there’s nothing wrong with a bit of fantasy to relieve the gloom.
The beach house is being created by US-born interior designer Arlene McIntyre, of Ventura Design. Arlene draws her inspiration from her summers spent with friends in the Hamptons and Martha’s Vineyard . “It’s casual, yet stylish with a little beach rustic thrown in. It’s a very achievable look for an Irish home, it’s relaxing, dateless and doesn’t necessarily mean buying all new pieces,” says McIntyre.
The show will offer one-to-one expert advice covering interiors, home extensions, energy, retro-fit, kitchens, bathrooms, floors and doors with all the experts under one roof. BQ invite you to their ‘You Can Do It’ DIY classes to learn how easy it is for you to decorate, repair and insulate your home.
The B&Q Ideal Home Show runs over the bank holiday weekend from October 26th to 29th. Pre-register to avail of free tickets on idealhome.ie.
