The Cosgrave Group is to make another attempt to secure planning permission for an apartment development on the site of Howth Lodge Hotel, on the beach at Howth Road, Co Dublin. A previous application failed to get planning approval. The current application provides for the demolition of the 50-bedroom hotel, which was originally used as a summer home by the Viceroy in Ireland. The proposal is to replace the hotel with 69 one-bedroom apartments, 45 two-bedroom homes and 23 three-bed units and 125 car-parking spaces, 99 at basement level. Meanwhile, on the southside of the city, Sloyan Brothers has been refused planning permission for 54 apartments on a site at Cabinteely Green, fronting on to Johnstown Road, Cabinteely.
