An Bord Pleanβla is to decide shortly whether to allow the Cosgrave Group to demolish the Howth Lodge Hotel in Howth, Co Dublin, and replace it with a development of 57 apartments. Local residents have lodged an appeal against the recent decision of Fingal County Council to grant permission for the scheme.

The council had previously refused permission on two occasions for larger developments on the site and these decisions were subsequently confirmed by the planning appeals board. A recent report in the Property supplement incorrectly suggested that the first two planning applications were approved by the Fingal council.
