Hot-tub house is awash with technology

THE INTERIOR OF Pirton House (see page 4) is awash with technology. The large plasma TV in the lounge is hidden from view by a picture-lift, a screen that shows the house in a demolished state, which slides up to reveal the screen when you want it. Flat Lift is a German-based company (0049 6241 97 20 10) which can provide a DIY option from €499 (excluding shipping). In the main bathroom there is a Jacuzzi bath and double shower – both with flat-screen TVs. Try Tile Vision (0044 870 871 0111) whose 17-inch televisions cost from €1,051.60 (23-inch versions from €1,626). Both need to be installed by an electrician. The glorious recent weather has everyone contemplating better ways to enjoy the moment: what better than a hot tub in your own back garden? The owners of Pirton House had a Serena Bay eight-seater built-into their stepped decking. It was supplied and fitted by Blackchurch Leisure in Rathcoole (01 458 9464). Expect to pay about €12,500 for something similar.

The teak domed conservatory to the rear has a day and night trompe l’oeil designed by Don Knox of Knox and Knox (087 260 0832). Expect to pay in the region of €4,500 for a similar piece.
