Another hotel is planned for Dublin city centre. The owners of Ashfield House hostel, at D'Olier Street and Hawkins Street, have sought planning permission to upgrade it to hotel status with provision for a basement bar and a ground floor cafe bar. The building was previously used a church.

A short distance away, McInerney Developments has been refused planning permission by An Bord Pleanala to provide four additional penthouse apartments at the recently completed scheme at Townsend Street and Tara Street.
