SLOVAKIA FROM €160,000:Apartments in Irish developer Ballymore's major mixed development in Bratislava are now for sale to investors
APARTMENTS IN THE vast mixed-use Eurovea scheme beside the Danube in Slovakia's capital city Bratislava are now for sale to investors costing from €160,000.
The 254 apartments are in Eurovea, a whole new quarter of the city. extending over 35 acres, which is being developed by Irish company Ballymore headed up by Roscommon-born Sean Mulryan. The next phase will see the launch of 900 more apartments.
On offer at the scheme, designed by Irish architects Murray O'Laoire and US firm Skidmore Owings and Merrill, are apartments ranging in size from 33.5-41.7sq m (360-48sq ft) studios, costing from €160,000 up to 130.2sq m to 370.3sq m (1,401sq ft to 3,985sq ft) penthouses from €1.2m-€3.5m.The apartments are expected to be ready to move into in 2010.
All are being fitted out by an interior designer with what are promised to be luxury fittings. The homes will have smart technology.
Also in the development, which is beside the Old Town precinct, are shops, offices, cinemas and a hotel. Marks & Spencer is anchoring the retail side with more than 40,000sq m (430,560sq ft) of shopping on three levels. Other shops coming here are Nike, Next, Mothercare, Benetton, Zara and H&M. The 207-bedroom five-star Sheraton hotel will be run by Starwood Hotels and Resorts.
Ballymore expects interest from members of the ex-pat community in Bratislava as well as people from the Czech Republic, Hungary, Austria, Ireland and the UK.
Vienna and Budapest can be reached by a hydrofoil, which will be able to dock in Eurovea. Ballymore, launched in 1982, has projects in the UK, Prague and Dublin. In London the company is responsible for the 29-storey Ontario Tower and the twin Pan Peninsula towers (of 40 and 50 storeys) near London's Canary Wharf which were designed by Skidmore Owings and Merill.
