An Bord Pleanala has granted planning permission for the redevelopment of the Janelle shopping centre in Finglas, Dublin 11, which is to be renamed Clearwater Shopping Centre. An additional 25,000 sq ft of retail space is to be added to the 11-year-old centre to accommodate a department store. It is also planned to provide 45,000 sq ft of retail warehousing at the rear, along with a drive-through restaurant which has been pre-sold to Burger King. Larry Brennan of letting agents Hamilton Osborne says it is already in negotiations with a number of companies interested in the department store. Super Crazy Prices is the anchor in the complex, which has 90,000 sq ft of lettable space.
Janelle was bought about two years ago along with shopping centres in Athlone and Dundalk by Robert Neill's company, Duke House.
