A consortium which includes father and son Raymond and David Lannon and the Dublin-based developers, The Newlyn Group, are to redevelop the former Atlantic Mills in Clondra, Co Longford, into a business park. The 345,000 sq ft industrial and office building stands on a 60-acre site along the Shannon. The denim manufacturing plant closed in 1998 with a loss of almost 250 jobs. The massive building is now to be redeveloped into a range of smaller units with between 50,000 and 100,000 sq ft. Newlyn recently received planning permission for a new retail park and town centre in Longford.
