Painting of Victorian Cork milkmaid in Dublin art auction


West Cork auctioneer Morgan O'Driscoll is holding an Irish art auction in Dublin on Monday, December 2nd, at 6pm in the Clyde Court Hotel in Ballsbridge. Viewing is underway from noon today. Highlights include a Victorian painting of a milkmaid, Little Peggy,
by the Cork artist Charles Henry Cook (€7,000-€10,000); an oil-on-board by Jack B Yeats titled Hot Weather/Hot Day, with a letter of provenance from the Theo Waddington Irish Art Project, estimated at (€30,000-€40,000); and The Olive Pickers by Patrick Swift (€20,000- €30,000) from a private collection in Cork.

More affordable lots include Woodsmoke, Tallow Horse Fair by Arthur K Maderson (€3,500-€4,500) and Farm Gate by Peter Collis (€1,500-€2,000).

In all, some 170 lots will go under the hammer and other artists featured include Brian Ballard, Graham Knuttel, Guggi, John Morris, Mark O'Neill, Markey Robinson and Ivan Sutton.
