Monday, September 3rdChristie's, London. Auction of suits formerly owned by Margaret Thatcher. Seven outfits made a total of £73,125 – more than 10 times the minimum estimate. A Donegal tweed suit sold for £6,875 (£1,000-£1,500) and was bought, along with five other of the outfits, by an online bidder in South Korea. A jade-green wool suit made £25,000 (£1,000-£1,500) and was bought by an anonymous bidder in the saleroom.

Three lots are described as gifts given to Col Seán Brennan, aide-de-camp to Éamon de Valera in the 1960s. A "white metal cigar case" given by the president of Pakistan, €200-€400; a tin cigarette box given by Prince Rainier, €50-€100 (left); and, a butter dish presented by King Baudouin of Belgium, €200-€400.
