Dundalk Shopping Centre is to be extended and upgraded at a cost of £5 million following the granting of planning permission for an additional 26,000 sq ft of retail space. Robert Neill's company, Wanze Properties, which owns the centre, is planning to sell a site for a 3,000 sq ft stand-alone fast-food restaurant. McDonalds and Burger King are understood to be in competition for the site, which is valued around £500,000. Douglas Newman Good Commercial, which manages the centre, will be aiming most of the newly developed area at large-space users, particularly UK fashion multiples.
