To complete the look, Muji's popular cube light, priced at €125, is a very versatile piece. The polycarbonate cube is lightweight and extremely strong, the warm light diffused and inviting.

Urban Outfitters in Temple Bar has some marvellously ornate clear acrylic table lamps with bases in a Victorian cut-out style, topped by funky wavy acrylic shades. There are two styles - one just a bit larger than the other - and each costs €194.
