The chandelier in the conservatory of Winton (see page 2) is connected to an intelligent lighting system that can create six different moods. Sparkling light from the chandelier reflecting off the limewash vaulted timber ceilings in the evenings gives an almost ethereal feel to the room.

The chandelier came from Hicken Lighting (freephone 1800 777 077) and cost €450. The touch-pad lighting system was fitted by Active Room Technologies (01-235 3731) which also installed the multi-room audio system.

There is nothing heavy or clunky in the room. The light airy theme is continued with an unobtrusive white table and six chairs with a glass top that cost €2,500 from Global Village at Powerscourt (01-204 6087). As well as lots of windows with views of the garden there is an abundance of Velux windows .

The walls in subtle Light Seagull Grey by Colortrend, bought at Stillorgan Decor (01-288 5824), and the flag floors are Spanish Travertine from Rocca Stone and Marble which cost around €120 a metre ( 01-6205607). The champagne bucket, €180 from Meadows and Byrne (1850 21 00 00), is in constant use in this great space for entertaining.
