Six-bedroom mansion once owned by Ronan Keating sells for €1.5m, writes EDEL MORGAN
FULTON, a six-bedroom Georgian-style mansion in Abington, Malahide, Co Dublin, once owned by singer Ronan Keating and his wife Yvonne, has been sold by Lisney for a figure believed to be in the region of €1.5 million.
While Lisney declined to confirm the price achieved, industry sources say it sold for below the €1.9 million asking price.
Former Boyzone frontman Keating sold Fulton, at number 28 Abington, back to developer Parkway Properties two years ago and his family moved into another newly-built palatial pile on the estate.
Parkway built the luxury development of mock-Georgian and Victorian mansions, once dubbed Millionaires’ Row, where Nicky Byrne from Westlife and his wife Georgina Ahern also live.
Other high-profile residents have included former chief executive of Anglo Irish Bank David Drumm, who now lives in the USA and bought his house at 20 Abingdon in 2003.
A judge in Boston recently agreed that Drumm’s house can be sold to help pay some of his debts to the Irish Bank Resolution Corporation, formerly Anglo Irish Bank.
Parkway is understood to be sitting on a reported €10.4 million of accumulated losses and is in talks with Nama over securing future financial support .
Yvonne Keating helped to front a campaign for Parkway post-2001 when the market went temporarily into decline.
Lisney describes Fulton as “designed in a French influenced Georgian style”. Built over three floors, it is at spacious at 487sq m (5,240sq ft) with a 105sq m (1,130sq ft) apartment to the rear of the house, behind the treble bay garage, which could be used as an au pair apartment, office or studio. Like most of the properties at Abington, it is hidden behind remote-controlled entrance gates .
Located near the front of the development, the house is one of 50 set on 43 acres of parkland close to Malahide Demesne and the Estuary.
It has big formal reception rooms including a dining room, and drawing room with marble fireplaces, a conservatory, family room and entertainment room, a big modern kitchen with a central island, and a breakfast area and utility room. All the bedrooms are en suite and the main bedroom has two dressing rooms.
The house stands on level, lawned gardens, stocked with mature shrubs and trees.
