The Don Lay Group is not to proceed with the sale of the flying freehold property over the former Abbey Mall shopping centre at Lower Liffey Street, Dublin 1. The company is believed to have been offered close to the asking price of £900,000 for the property, which has planning permission for 28 apartments, but is now to redevelop the site later this year. The L-shaped site, located in a tax designated area, will have around 15,000 sq ft of retail space on the ground floor, which will be occupied mainly by food shops. Hooke & MacDonald will be handling the sale of the apartments on the upper floors. The Don Lay Group bought the old shopping arcade over two years ago for £970,000. It subsequently acquired two adjoining properties.
