The garden of 5 Florence Terrace is a little piece of order and calm in the suburbs. The owner wanted it to look clean, contemporary and be low maintenance but homely.

The Mint Sandstone paving was sourced from Stone Merchant (01 4589100, www.stonemerchant.ie ) and its gold and red tones help inject warmth into the garden. It costs around €21 per sq m plus Vat @ 21.5 per cent.

The potted hedge along the redbrick wall gives an ordered, architectural look to the space. These and the bamboo used to screen the parking space to the rear of the garden came from The Greenhouse (01 2824377). The Balau wood around the bamboo was sourced from Brooks (01 2940200).

Garden designer Sarah Jordan (087 7846639) was involved in creating the pathway and gravelled parking area. The gravel is Glenview Gold from Roadstone (01 2867194) which costs €140 per tonne. The lawn was supplied by Classic Touch landscapes (086 8162461). One of a similar size would cost around €420 plus Vat. The garden furniture is from Powerscourt Garden Pavilion (01 2046014).
