A SHOP reputed to be the oldest in Bray, Co Wicklow, T Harvey and Sons butcher's at 17 Quinnsboro Road, is expected to make in excess of £450,000 when it is sold by private treaty through the local branch of Jackson Stops. Built as a private residence in 1849, it was converted into a shop unit in 1890 when Barretts started a fruit, vegetable and flower outlet. The shop was taken over by Harvey's in 1919 and it has been known by that name ever since. The shop-front is listed for preservation under the Bray Development Plan. It has a retail area of 540 sq ft as well as a stores and other facilities. There is a long rear yard, extending more than 30 ft. Gordon Lennox says the overhead accommodation on two levels is elegant, with virtually all period features in place.
