The board said the development would have a negative impact on the landscape of the adjacent areas of the Liffey Valley and when taken in conjunction with the Liffey Valley Special Amenity Area, it would compromise the integrity of this important amenity area. It also said the scheme would. involve a material contravention of the development plan and would be premature because of the deficiency of the road network in the area and the capacity of existing and projected sewerage facilities.
In Chapelizod, Dublin 20, the appeals board has also refused Dwyer Nolan Developments planning permission to build 87 apartments and five commercial units at The Island on Maiden Row. The board said the development would be in conflict with the objective of the development plan to preserve recreational amenities, including open space.
