THE sound of the gavel dropping is almost as rare as the cuckoo call these days, but in fact two auctions took place yesterday and both managed to do the business.
In south county Dublin, Sherry FitzGerald had a full auction room for the sale of a modest bungalow called Clermont, in Haddington Park, Glenageary, which had a pre auction guide price of €395,000.
Three bidders chased the property which was finally knocked down at €405,000. The three-bed house needs complete refurbishment. Meanwhile, in Co Carlow, Sherry FitzGerald McDermott, had success yesterday at its first auction of 2011. It sold 85 acres for €890,000.
