Auction fatigue is the buzz word this week as estate agents around the city long to get away after yet another bumper season of sales. An increasing number of properties have been withdrawn unsold from auction over the past two or three weeks, and while some of these are snapped up after auction, many remain on the market, particuarly the more expensive houses. Estate agents are consoling disappointed vendors by assuring them it is the usual seasonal lull - rather than a real slowdown in the market and that much of the left-over property will probably be sold in the coming weeks. However, it is now clear that vendors with expensive homes to sell are being advised to hold off until wealthy buyers have returned from the sun.
