A little Georgian house for €5

YOU COULD WIN a Georgian house this Christmas, albeit one that is just a metre high.

YOU COULD WIN a Georgian house this Christmas, albeit one that is just a metre high.

The impressive dolls’ house – which is worth €2,500 – has been sumptuously furnished by The Doll Store on South Great George’s Street in Dublin.

It is being raffled by the stroke service at St James’s Hospital and tickets cost €5 each.

They are holding the raffle because the outlook for the 10,000 people a year who suffer from strokes in Ireland is not as good as it is in other countries.

The risk of a poor outcome here – meaning death or permanent disability – is 20 per cent higher than the average for the rest of Europe (and 52 per cent higher than in Germany).

St James’s Hospital sees about 400 stroke patients a year and has been working to improve their outcome – the hours following a stroke are critical.

The hospital says it has already achieved a drop in mortality and disability and wants to raise funds for more equipment, a rehabilitation space and to train staff even further.

The dolls house can be seen at James Adams and Sons showroom windows at 26 St Stephen’s Green, Dublin, where tickets are for sale.

They can also be bought in The Doll Store, 62 South Great George’s Street and St James’s Hospital.
