£2.5 million paid for Galway caravan park

A 32-acre caravan park on the seafront at Rusheen Bay in Barna, Galway, has been sold for around £2.5 million

A 32-acre caravan park on the seafront at Rusheen Bay in Barna, Galway, has been sold for around £2.5 million. Galway agents Terry Cunningham, of MA Cunningham and Son, handled the sale of Hunter's Silverstrand Caravan Park which is in the Galway city borough area and includes a large family home on 2.5 acres. The new owner is not yet known but there was apparently strong interest from local sporting clubs. The land is zoned for recreational and amenity use and is licensed to accommodate 60 caravans, 45 mobile homes and 40 tents.

Also in Galway, the BMW agency Barry Motors has moved to the newly developed Motor Park, a high quality, five-acre multi franchise complex developed by the company beside the Ibis Hotel on the Headfort Road. The Honda, Mitsubishi and Ford franchises, also held by Michael Barry, are also moving to the park.

The Barry Motors site on the Headfort Road is now being demolished and replaced by a 20,000 sq ft retail warehouse which has been pre-let to the UK retail giant Currys. The rent is likely to be in excess of £250,000 per annum. Fintan Tierney of Lambert Smith Hampton is looking for further outlets for Currys and PC World in Cork, Limerick and the Dublin area.
