FEW enough Dublin restaurants have the facilities for out-door tables which are a sure way to boost turnover during the summer. One of the first with pavement tables was The Bistro, in the Castlemarket pedestrian street near Powerscourt Townhouse centre, in central Dublin. The up-market Cooke's is on the same block.
After several years, the owners of The Bistro are selling their lease through Tynan Moran. Patrick Moran is seeking between £150,000 to £175,00 for the leases at 4/5 Castlemarket - there are two leases, but the original two buildings are now amalgamated in one premises. One of the 35-year leases runs from 1984 at a rent of £8,750 per year, while the other is also a 35-year lease and runs from 1992 at £9,000 per annum.
Hands-on management by the current husband-and-wife owners has built up a very substantial business. The restaurant has seating for 80 people in addition to the outdoor tables.
