AROUND THE BLOCK: THE PROPERTY developer owners of Santa Maria, a large house with an interesting history in Dalkey, Co Dublin have reduced the price by over 25 per cent in order to sell.

The nine-bedroom, 10 bathroom property, which featured in books and a play by the late Hugh Leonard, came on the market last October at €6.5 million but the price has now been cut to €4.8 million, making it “good value at €592 a sq ft” according to Rosie Mulvany of Sherry FitzGerald’s Dalkey office.

The 753sq m (8,105sq ft) house originally stood on two acres of grounds, but much of the original land has been ear-marked for a low-rise housing scheme.

Now the house stands on just over half an acre, including a large sloping garden to the front, and a level garden behind.
