The permanent display of Irish heritage, from a crannóg to a Norman fort, draws thousands of visitors to the Irish National Heritage Park on the outskirts of Wexford town every year, but until now the shop and dining facilities were a little on the dull side.

Not anymore, though, as they’ve both undergone a major revamp. Now the shop is full of cool contemporary Irish-made clothes and crafts, from McCul’s fun clothes to Max Benjamin’s soya-based candles. Other brands include Daff, Orla Kiely and Antica Murrina. In the dining room the menu is full of home-baked breads and cakes – just the thing after a winter walk around some of the park’s 35 acres.
