MARIE-CLAIRE DIGBYrounds up some delightful Christmas gifts for foodies
What the stylish kitchen is wearing
There’s more to Terroirs, the stylish Donnybrook shop known for its lavish window displays, than wine and gourmet food. This “Kitchen Box” hamper (€160) is bursting with stylish kitchen accessories, including an apron, dish cloths, hand towel, bead basket and pot holder – as well as a gorgeous olive wood salt keeper with a swivelling magnetic lid made by Bérard, a French company that has been making wood products since 1892. The Terroirs hamper selection also includes a very individual wine selection and carefully chosen gourmet products. www.terroirs.ie.
Get gift-giving down to a tea
Tea has never been cooler, it seems, and smart leaf tea selections and decorative caddies make lovely gifts. Clement Pekoe is an online Irish retailer of speciality teas and coffees, owned by Dairine Keogh, who is a Tea Council accredited expert and a qualified barista. The handsome black gift box (below left) containing two loose leaf teas and a tea infuser costs €38.50, and are available from Affinity in Rathgar, Dublin 6 and 64Wine in Glasthule, Co Dublin, as well as online from www.clementandpekoe.com. The limited- edition selection box of teas in festive canisters from Le Palais des Thés at 31 Wicklow Street, Dublin 2, costs €42.
Flower power
These pretty Little Bloomers Christmas decorations from the food market at Harvey Nichols in Dundrum, Dublin 14, are made from recycled paper impregnated with wild flower seeds, so once the tree comes down you can plant them outside and wait for them to flower next year. They cost €4.50 each or €12.50 for a set of three decorations.
