The range of food products on sale in Oxfam shops in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Belfast is surprisingly good, and they are great places to pick up some goodies in support of Fairtrade Fortnight, which runs until March 9th.
You can also shop online at www.oxfamirelandshop.com. In my virtual basket you'll find the Liberation nuts assortment (€7.80) – four 150g packs of assorted cashews and peanuts that come plain, salted and smoked, as well as a zingy chilli and lemon variety – and Burnt Sugar fudge made with unrefined Fairtrade sugar from Kenya. The Observer Food Monthlydescribed this as "the world's best fudge", and two 180g packs, of original and chocolate, costs €8.22. Oxfam also sells Fairtrade chocolates made by the Divine Chocolate Company, whose chocolatier David Greenwood-Haigh will be doing chocolate demos in the South King Street shop in Dublin on Monday, March 2nd.
