Most of the 21 movies screened in competition at Cannes last month have been acquired by now for distribution here.
The first arrives today with the opening of Sin City, but Irish audiences must wait three months for the next two competition entries. Gus Van Sant's Last Days, featuring Michael Pitt as a suicidal rock star loosely based on Kurt Cobain, is due here on September 2nd, while David Cronenberg's A History of Violence, featuring Viggo Mortensen and Maria Bello, opens on September 30th.
