Wild & wonderful at Fringe 2009

The 15th Absolut Dublin Fringe Festival will take place in various venues from September 5th to 20th

The 15th Absolut Dublin Fringe Festival will take place in various venues from September 5th to 20th. This year’s music programme includes avant-garde composer Nico Muhly, who has worked with the likes of Björk, Grizzly Bear and Sigur Rós. He plays the Spiegeltent at Custom House Quay on September 6th. Cabaret performer Camille O’Sullivan (16th) and music and performance art group Synth Eastwood (10th) also play the same venue.

Other acts booked include Maria Tecce, Berlin-based electronica duo Die Roten Punkte and 11-piece outfit Beat’n’Blow, while Guy Garvey of Elbow will participate in a 90-minute talk about his band’s recent successes (8th).

A number of specially curated nights will also be hosted at the Spiegeltent. Sunday Roast will feature performances by Sack, RedKid, Gran Casino and others on the 13th, while the Young Hearts Run

Free night will see Villagers and guests perform on the 17th.

2009 also marks the first year of Róise Goan as festival director, and she was predictably enthused by the musical selection on offer.
