TOWN & COUNTRY had a fine start to the year with their sale of the contents of a house in Sandymount, 64 Charlemont Road, Dublin 4, on January 14th. A George IV walnut sofa table made Pounds 3,400 under the hammer; a Victorian mahogany bookcase sold for Pounds 1,250; and a George III inlaid, mahogany card table made Pounds 980.glass, ship's decanter made a good price of Pounds 1,500.

A set of six 19th century Irish dining chairs sold for Pounds 870 and a nest of tables, a trio in cross banded satinwood, fetched Pounds 700.

Town & Country also reported solid prices from its auction on the premises of SIPTU, in the Larkin Hall on Parnell Square, last Sunday. The sale included some substantial pieces of mahogany furniture. A Victorian four door bookcase sold for Pounds 3,100 and a George IV mahogany sideboard fetched Pounds 2,000. A 19th century corner cabinet was knocked down at Pounds 1,800.
