A Victorian walnut credenza was the best-selling lot at last Saturday's house contents auction in Crossdoney, Co Cavan, conducted by Town & Country. It went for £2,250 compared with £1,500 for a George IV mahogany inlaid long case clock, £1,300 for a Victorian walnut, oval-shaped centre table with moulded top and £1,250 for a five-piece late Victorian, rosewood salon suite.

Among the pictures, two landscape views by George Gillespie sold for £1,700 and £1,500 respectively.
