Traffic Gripes

Gardaí are continuing to apply the law selectively in Dame Street.

Ever since the discriminatory anti-private motorist change by the Director of Traffic, preventing private cars from turning right from George's Street on to Dame Street, there is a frequent Garda presence looking for cars that are following taxis and buses, and ignoring the "no right turn" sign.

Almost amusing to watch are the forlorn motorists who take a chance (causing no danger to anyone) and are then booked by gardaí, even though, in my view, the "no right turn" idea has been a failure.

Not so amusing are the cyclists ignoring the red lights at the adjacent traffic lights as they break the law merrily in vast numbers. Funny how gardaí never stop any of these dangerous, law-breaking cyclists as they sail past.
