THE Conyngham Arms Hotel in Slane, Co Meath, plays host to a fine antiques auction next Thursday at 6.30 p.m. Some of the lots will have come from Ardagh House, Co Longford, such as a Victorian extending dining table (estimate £2,000-£3,000). From another property comes a breakfront mahogany inlaid bookcase (£1,200-£1,500), while a third house provides a Regency rosewood brass-inlaid sofa table (£5,000-£6,000).

Other items include a 19th century grandfather clock, a Regency chaise longue, a Victorian mahogany four-door mirror-back sideboard and a Victorian ebony and marquetry bonheur de jour. The auction is being conducted by Oliver Usher of Kells, Co Meath.
