Here’s a bill to make fans of premier league electropop in the northern capital rub their hands with glee. Alex Metric is probably best known as the remixer who has done refurbishment jobs for Phoenix, Bloc Party, Jape and Ladyhawke. But Metric is also a dab hand when it comes to his own productions, as demonstrated by latest release, It Starts EP, with its pumping, jumping, stomping, irresistibly high-on-life bangers.

Joining Metric for this Stiff Kitten hop will be Steel City producer Toddla T. Last year, the man born Tom Bell released Skanky Skanky, an album loaded to the brim with sprightly, bouncy, dayglo party music. While Bell usually works according to a dancehall blueprint, the album also zipped through bassline house, electro, hip-hop, dub, techy beeps and r’n’b in a manner not seen since Basement Jaxx were first lighting up south London with similar carnival carry-on.
