A COLLECTION of banknotes dating from the early 19th century will be among the items of special interest at tomorrow's antiques and collectables fair being held in Newman House, Dublin.

Among the currency notes on offer are several early Irish examples, notably a rare Bank of Ireland specimen £5 note dated May 1826; this is possibly the earliest known such specimen note from the Bank of Ireland. There are also a £1 note from Ross's Bank of Wexford dated September 1st, 1805 and a Waterford Bank two guineas sterling note dated September 1st, 1808, plus many other notes in denominations from 10 shillings to £100.

Stumps and postcards will be included too in the fair, along with silver and porcelain, textiles, miscellaneous Victoriana, paintings and prints.
