BELFAST'S artist run group, Catalyst Arts, opens a new group show tonight in its recently renovated city centre gallery, writes Nuala Haughey. The renovation is part is of an ongoing refurbishment programme in Catalyst Art's building, funded partly by the National Lottery Art Fund which is administered by the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
The two galleries in the two storey converted shirt factory have been upgraded and the office space extended. All natural light has been blocked out of the downstairs gallery, giving it a dramatically different character to the naturally bright upstairs space. Six Catlayst Arts members were selected for the opening show, called Singled Out. The work is largely installation, sculptural and photographic. The artists are Martina Corry, Willie Heron, Brian Patterson, Eva Rothschild, Damian Doyle and Heather Allen.
