While tonight’s Shine extravaganza has a very strong undercard to attract punters in the door – including dubstep maestro Rusko and hot-to-trot remixer Fake Blood (aka one-time Wall Of Sound act Wiseguy) – all attention will really be on the headliners.
It’s hard to know where Simian Mobile Disco’s James Ford and James Shaw got the time to write and record album number two over the past while. The success of SMD’s debut album led to a hell of a lot of touring and remix requests, while Ford’s prowess as a producer has seen him continue to work with Arctic Monkeys and Last Shadow Puppets (as both producer and drummer in the latter case). Nevertheless, Temporary Pleasure is ready to roll in August and will feature guest turns from Beth Ditto (Gossip), Alexis Taylor (Hot Chip), Jamie Lidell, Gruff Rhys (Super Furry Animals) and Chris Keating (Yeasayer).
