Jim Sheridan will make a movie on Irish gangsters in New York after he completes his latest project, Get Rich or Die Tryin', starring 50 Cent (pictured with Viola Davis) as a drug dealer who quits crime to pursue his interest in rap music.

Sheridan's next film, Emerald City, is inspired by factual events and set in Hell's Kitchen. The screenplay is by Lukas Reiter, a former New York assistant district attorney who wrote and produced episodes of the TV series Boston Legal and The Practice. Sheridan also remains attached to directing the DreamWorks remake of the 1952 Akira Kurosawa film, Ikiru.
