AT Town & Country's house contents sale in Rathgar, Dublin, last Sunday, a Regency rosewood and brass inlaid sofa table fetched £2,000 and a Victorian parquetry bureau plat made £1,570. An Edwardian three-piece mahogany suite sold for £880, a late Victorian mahogany secretaire bookcase realised £860, a 19th century mahogany estate cabinet with Greek key cornice went under the hammer for £720 and a Victorian giltwood overmantle sold for £700.
Among the pictures on offer, a canvas by C. MacAuley called Yarn at the Turf went for £2,500, while Coming Shower in Co Antrim by the same artist made £1,860.
