Blame the quaint, Bible Belt town of Franklin, Tennessee for this year’s biggest-selling emo band, Paramore.

Fronted by Hayley Williams – the thinking male teen’s crumpet du jour – Paramore have been touted as a toned down, more responsible My Chemical Romance.

Paramore are also avowed Christians. Guitarist Josh Farro leads the band members in prayer before each gig, an act of faith that the majority of their fans, perhaps, don’t keep too keen an eye on.

The music? It’s a melodic enough pop/punk racket that falls right into the camp occupied by Panic at the Disco, Fall Out Boy and

MCR.
