Green Day will release their first album since 2004's American Idiotin May.

The power-punk trio recorded 21st Century Breakdownwith Smashing Pumpkins/Nirvana producer Butch Vig in Hollywood last year, and the album is split into three "acts" spread across 16 tracks. The album artwork features a stencilled kissing couple on the backdrop of a brick wall – apparently inspired by Swedish street artist Sixten.
