Thursday will see a special performance at the National Concert Hall in Dublin for fans of movie scores, soundtracks and TV themes.

Led by Irish jazz musician Cian Boylan and his quartet, The Sound of Movieswill feature numerous well-known songs from films such as The Wizard of Oz, Magnolia, Good Will Huntingand Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.

Boylan’s multinational quartet comprises saxophonist Ben Castle (son of late trumpeter Roy), drummer Guy Rickarby and double-bassist Dan Bodwell.

“For me, the challenge is to provide a fresh take on these great songs and scores within the context of this jazz quartet, while retaining the excitement and the wonder of the original. And, of course, to have lots of fun in the process,” he said.
