We may be in the first days of spring, but one Irish band is planning to launch their album in a manner better suited to Halloween.

Waterford quartet Floyd Soul and the Wolf will release their as-yet-untitled debut album later this year, but are currently undertaking gigs in the spookiest of locations –

and under a full moon, in keeping with their lupine moniker – to preview the record. The most recent gig took place at Cork’s Rathlin Castle, with more planned

at Cahergall Forest in Co Wicklow and Ballyscanlon Cemetery in Co Dublin in February and March.

Lead singer Luke Heffernan said that the idea came to the band after they performed under a full moon on New Year’s Eve and realised that there was an “amazing energy” to the gig. “It turns the idea of doing a ‘gig’ on its head, performing in a completely unconventional setting and completely breaking down the barriers between a band and its audience,” he said, adding that they hoped to acquire the services of a professional medium to conduct a seance at their graveyard performance.
